Thank you to everyone in the area for your continued patience. Highway 97A remains closed between Emeny Road and Sicamous Creek Frontage Road to protect responders and residents. There are burnt trees and powerpoles that are falling onto the highway creating unsafe conditions for the traveling public. Sprinkler crews worked through the night and it was relatively quiet as the fire did not behave unexpectedly. Air crews are flying but heavy smoke is inhibiting the ability to fight fires from the air and obtain accurate mapping of the fire perimeters.

 

Crews are watching the weather forecast and are expecting increased fire behaviour; however, BC Wildfire crews are watching the situation closely. Operations are continuing and updates are given as soon as official sources confirm the information.
