2024 Communities in Bloom Evaluation

Earlier this year, the Communities in Bloom judges visited Sicamous. Representatives from Sicamous Communities in Bloom took the judges for a tour of the town and the long-awaited evaluation results are in!

Sicamous Communities in Bloom achieved a five bloom rating for the three categories they were evaluated on:

  • Environment;
  • Heritage; and
  • Plant and floral displays.

Sicamous Communities in Bloom also received a special mention for the work being done to build a stronger, inclusive and year-round community and was awarded the "Environmental Action Award."

This year, Sicamous Communities in Bloom focused on the theme of "Activating Spaces" to foster a healthy community environment. Examples highlighted in the submission include sustainability initiatives at the Sicamous Farmers' Market, health and wellness programs within the community, heritage and art walking trails and the new staging area near the pickleball courts.

According the Deb Heap, who serves as chair for Sicamous Communities in Bloom, the judges were impressed by how clean our community is. The judges also commended council's advocacy efforts on invasive mussels, the municipal FoodCycler program and the bioheat facility.

"We will continue to partner with the District of Sicamous, local organizations and businesses on projects and programs that make Sicamous a better place to live," Heap shares.

The District of Sicamous would like to thank Sicamous Communities in Bloom for making our community shine. The many hours invested by volunteers are appreciated and make a real difference in Sicamous!
