Emergency agencies from Sicamous and the surrounding area will complete a multi-agency training exercise to better protect our communities.
On November 2, Sicamous Fire Rescue, Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 106, Swansea Point Fire Department and BC Ambulance Service will participate in a multi-agency emergency response exercise. The training event will be held at Sicamous Houseboats.
A briefing exercise was held earlier in October to prepare the agencies for the training event. If you witness emergency vehicles around Sicamous Houseboats on November 2, please know that a practice is underway to prepare for future emergency events involving multiple agencies.
Multi-agency emergency response teams are essential to the effective management of large-scale emergencies. These teams consist of various specialized agencies, each of which offer their own expertise and assume specific responsibilities. Together, the agencies work together towards the common goal of saving lives and reducing harm. Effective multi-agency response requires thorough planning, coordination and communication.
