Application Requirements

  1. The maximum width for a residential driveway is 7 metres (23 feet). The maximum width for an industrial driveway is 14 metres (46 feet). Industrial parcels may have one or two driveways permitted upon approval by the district.
  2. All driveways must be installed in accordance with municipal specifications (i.e. culvert ends must be sandbagged or otherwise properly protected).
  3. A drawing is required to be submitted showing the proposed location of the driveway including measurements from the property line, hydro pole, etc.
  4. Public works will inspect the proposed location and determine the required culvert size before approval is given.

Owner's Responsibility

  1. To prevent the tracking of mud and soil onto the road, the driveway must be graveled to an extent satisfactory to the public works supervisor.
  2. Any mud, soil, debris or other foreign material tracked onto the road from the driveway shall be removed by the owner at their expense.
  3. Maintenance and periodic cleaning of the culvert is the responsibility of the owner.
  4. With the approval of the public works supervisor, a driveway may be installed by the property owner or their contractor working under the conditions of this application.
  5. At all times during construction, the safety of the travelling public must be maintained, and any traffic control is the responsibility of the owner.
  6. Any existing access to a property not covered by a valid permit may be removed within 90 days of the date of this application.
