Riverside Avenue Watermain Replacement

If you can believe it, the existing water infrastructure on Riverside Avenue is over 50 years old!

Project Overview

  • The District of Sicamous is replacing the aging watermain line from 6" to 10". This will increase fire flow from Kappel Street to Martin Street.
  • Following the water main replacement and upgrade, the roadway will be reconstructed and the sidewalk on the west side will be repaved.
  • This project is funded by capital reserves and development cost charge contributions.

District of Sicamous Council identifies the maintenance and expansion of infrastructure as a strategic priority within the 2022 - 2026 period.

The project is anticipated to begin during the third week of August and reach completion by early October.

UPDATE:

  • The project started on August 20, 2024.
  • There will be two tie-in days that involve water shut offs.
    • Tuesday, September 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • POSTPONED - Thursday, September 26 from 9 to 5 p.m.
      • NEW DATE - Tuesday, October 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

While upgrades to the Riverside Avenue watermain are underway, traffic will be interrupted. The District of Sicamous is working with the contractor to approve a traffic plan with alternate routes for motorists and pedestrians.

UPDATE:

An alternate route is open to motorists while construction progresses.
