The District of Sicamous is pleased to introduce Rob Dayringer as the municipality’s new engineering technician. With experience as a civil and mechanical technician and designer, Dayringer brings fantastic knowledge to our operations and infrastructure department.
“I have lived in Sicamous for about five years, and I am very fond of this community,” shares Dayringer. “I like the idea of being more involved in my community and the option to work closer to home.”
As engineering technician, Dayringer oversees engineering services, including survey, design, inspection, cost estimating for capital projects and planning related to the district’s infrastructure.
“Most of my civil engineering and design experience comes from my time in south Florida,” says Dayringer. “In my time there, I did a lot of mapping for the city, created site plans for a variety of commercial developments and was involved in some roadway and canal design.”
In addition to his experience in south Florida, Dayringer applied his expertise to a coal mine in northern British Columbia and worked as a mechanical engineering technologist in Salmon Arm.
When asked what excites him about his new role, Dayringer shared that he is excited about the growth and development currently happening in Sicamous and the benefits such projects will bring to members of the community.
“I enjoy time spent on, near, or in the water – fishing, boating and swimming are some of my favourite activities,” says Rob. “I also enjoy playing disc golf, where I prefer to stay clear of the water,” he jokes.
Outside of his new role at the district, Rob also spends time enjoying live music and watching football (he’s a Buckeyes fan!). If you see Rob around town, be sure to say hello, and don’t hesitate to reach out about all things infrastructure and capital planning.
