The District of Sicamous is pleased to re-introduce Nicole Hansen as the municipality's new development services manager. Hansen joined the District in April of 2023, working with the corporate services department as the communications and legislative coordinator. Her experience in this role allowed her to expand her knowledge about the municipality and practise skillful community engagement. 

"After a brief hiatus and a switch from provincial to municipal government, I'm back in action facilitating development," Hansen shared. "There are a number of projects on the go already in town, and I'm looking forward to bringing my own flair to the new developments being proposed."

Before working for the District, Hansen spent 12 years working in development services for the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. In this role, Hansen was a provincial approving officer for rural subdivision, collaborating on subdivision and development servicing bylaws, official community plans and zoning bylaws.

"The biggest difference between provincial and municipal governments is the pace at which we can make things happen," says Hansen. "Since April, I've learned the team at the municipal office is small and really passionate about the community."

Having grown up in Sicamous and the surrounding area, Hansen brings her passion for the community and a wealth of knowledge to the role of development services manager. She envisions Sicamous as a community with additional housing for young families and seniors, providing options for those who want to put down roots.

Hansen shares the goals she has for her new role. "I hope to build a strong focus on customer service in the development services business unit. It covers planning, building and bylaw."

Outside of work, Nicole loves fostering feral cats and long road trips. She has checked Haida Gwaii, Alaska, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon off her road trip bucket list. Nicole also enjoys cooking, sewing and creating scrapbook greeting cards.
